From my lack of posts- you can tell I have been busy. Things have been a little crazy this year (to say the least).</div><div><br /></div><div>So, I decided to make something or do something with only things around the house. In my craft closet I found some cute ribbon and a candle holder. My mom had given me a new candle for Christmas that I hadn't burned yet, and I decided to combine the two. Glued the candle to the candlestick and glued the ribbon around the candle. When I was finished, I glued a chip-board fleur de lis on the front. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTn7TLec_18xWLyp87o5YJPUxVghKTgH55XbgjCtaglnFe12l9EOdcf3-OmEnkfbnEPeUgReaQZkAQ-5-whLecm7XKU0LfLOeD8GoHfVOhLazWaJLt1Dd90ZZyGbcWbEy3iHVWnhwX3JY/s1600/112_1073.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTn7TLec_18xWLyp87o5YJPUxVghKTgH55XbgjCtaglnFe12l9EOdcf3-OmEnkfbnEPeUgReaQZkAQ-5-whLecm7XKU0LfLOeD8GoHfVOhLazWaJLt1Dd90ZZyGbcWbEy3iHVWnhwX3JY/s320/112_1073.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5575721125197243474" style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>Then, I decided to tidy up an area that has been driving me crazy-bananas! I keep them on my refrigerator as a reminder of my friends and family. Last year was my first year to send them out myself, and I received soooo many compliments on them. It is so easy to make them too. Find your favorite family photo, upload it to Shutterfly's website, personalize your card, and you are done! I can't wait to make my own again this year. <br /><br />Would you like to create some for your family too? Here are some ideas:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.shutterfly.com/img_/publishing/styleSwatches/ssc/stationerycard_5x7/STATIONERYCARD_5x7-23046-2655-MERCHLARGE_FRONT-v128103976900098775.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 361px; height: 500px;" src="http://www.shutterfly.com/img_/publishing/styleSwatches/ssc/stationerycard_5x7/STATIONERYCARD_5x7-23046-2655-MERCHLARGE_FRONT-v128103976900098775.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />I love the colors on this one.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.shutterfly.com/img_/publishing/styleSwatches/ssc/stationerycard_5x7/STATIONERYCARD_5x7-23046-2723-MERCHLARGE_FRONT-v1281040146000120700.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 361px; height: 500px;" src="http://www.shutterfly.com/img_/publishing/styleSwatches/ssc/stationerycard_5x7/STATIONERYCARD_5x7-23046-2723-MERCHLARGE_FRONT-v1281040146000120700.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />This one is cute- love the blocks!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.shutterfly.com/img_/publishing/styleSwatches/ssc/stationerycard_5x7/STATIONERYCARD_5x7-23046-2433-MERCHLARGE_FRONT-v128103908900087734.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 500px; height: 361px;" src="http://www.shutterfly.com/img_/publishing/styleSwatches/ssc/stationerycard_5x7/STATIONERYCARD_5x7-23046-2433-MERCHLARGE_FRONT-v128103908900087734.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br />I think this is the one I am going to go with... but I may change my mind again before I order :)<br /><br />If you would like to get your own cards, check <a href="http://bit.ly/sfly2010">this</a> out! <div><br /></div><div>Thank you Shutterfly for offering the chance to receive 50 free Christmas cards :) You are helping out my holiday budget! </div>K@The Thrifty Teacherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15755007904706516339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2690795588277498500.post-49307394749601375882010-09-19T16:39:00.013-05:002010-09-19T20:23:07.235-05:00Why Haven't I Blogged??? Otherwise Known as the $3.50 Fab Table Rehab!I haven't blogged in forever... Haven't had much to say I guess. After I finally finished my Master's Degree in the spring, I decided to take some time off from crafting and blogging. instead I have spent my time catching up on the things I missed:<br /><br />(In no particular order)<br /><br />1. Glee- I really wanted to watch it last year, but never could find the time to get into it. Now I guess you can call me a gleek. <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.paisleypetunia.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/gleeemma6.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 470px; height: 265px;" src="http://www.paisleypetunia.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/gleeemma6.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><br /><br />2. Getting my classroom organized. This is better some days than others. I have a pretty good group of kids this year. <br /><br />and 3. Looking for a new sofa table. I finally found one (for $8- yes $8! I will have to dedicate a post to it soon- the story is awesome).<br /><br />~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br />I do have a summer craft project to share though:<br /><br />Well, I have wanted a new table for my classroom library area for-eva! I have just been tooooo cheap. Well, after scouring Craigslist, Goodwill, and the Salvation Army for months, I hit the motherload. <br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEA51oN2v8_xe_QzEjn95RuC52FGsPvsoO3UV90vQ9OOhW_woarWq03Oc1XDLUEgPiTZhwCDGGiBvwg1ehRtfZw3GujLb_fat9yw5liwW_RZZ_ALnMsrw2-RKAWpl4ECekcvvZtotXbG4/s1600/112_1027.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEA51oN2v8_xe_QzEjn95RuC52FGsPvsoO3UV90vQ9OOhW_woarWq03Oc1XDLUEgPiTZhwCDGGiBvwg1ehRtfZw3GujLb_fat9yw5liwW_RZZ_ALnMsrw2-RKAWpl4ECekcvvZtotXbG4/s320/112_1027.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518747884059020306" /></a><br /><br />I found this beaut for only $3.50 (it was half-off day at Goodwill). It had great bone structure (and a laminate! top)<br /><br />Oh, when I said beaut, I meant dusty, dinged up, and hot mess! Took off the front hardware and gave it a coat of ORB<br /><br />I rolled on a few coats of oil-based primer- it was starting to look good =) I also let it dry for a few days before putting on the paint. That is usually my downfall- not waiting long enough before I paint. <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO30jz2aAZk_byNKzwJgf7JpsA5_2dYKnw7ofe5XpX1ivCwiPCJAVBGMpiM582Oxv4IAJ-GnuArWigND9Dj3sI280zf5PphyaRCTkijZ_CsMIo2LLT_QLuD4hMIt2X7yUwiAYW_wQJzpA/s1600/112_1028.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO30jz2aAZk_byNKzwJgf7JpsA5_2dYKnw7ofe5XpX1ivCwiPCJAVBGMpiM582Oxv4IAJ-GnuArWigND9Dj3sI280zf5PphyaRCTkijZ_CsMIo2LLT_QLuD4hMIt2X7yUwiAYW_wQJzpA/s320/112_1028.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518747893228848082" /></a><br /><br />Here was my end result:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi94vvasRTX5zRdfGaLo4H_yNBHejcqUS71XwkGPEE_sxEcLliRk36hNVkBwBHJw32hs-FJ6v5dirGo9_sNFDfIYSdbRxU_3ca3Gts4FvWRfo0xr-GkYs9aLjOniW-t9dblLKl3BdzZWe0/s1600/112_1051.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi94vvasRTX5zRdfGaLo4H_yNBHejcqUS71XwkGPEE_sxEcLliRk36hNVkBwBHJw32hs-FJ6v5dirGo9_sNFDfIYSdbRxU_3ca3Gts4FvWRfo0xr-GkYs9aLjOniW-t9dblLKl3BdzZWe0/s320/112_1051.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518747911039203250" /></a><br />Another look:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0JPgLBCkT3gNowje-GJ_5gB5YrXBcAzL0yY-XkmYZJKqkLq6PIGMjqyp6YzBppzMybXG4_mgYHbBTlRHuZwo6CcNMKnFmXQaU66vr0iUD2tJDe-wON4NugfvTbZ6U6tZOlosergC0y00/s1600/112_1056.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0JPgLBCkT3gNowje-GJ_5gB5YrXBcAzL0yY-XkmYZJKqkLq6PIGMjqyp6YzBppzMybXG4_mgYHbBTlRHuZwo6CcNMKnFmXQaU66vr0iUD2tJDe-wON4NugfvTbZ6U6tZOlosergC0y00/s320/112_1056.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518747904922688978" /></a><br /><br />Here is the inside paper (scrapbook paper that I decoupaged on):<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUrypwFJfjRQmhJgKaLE0Hend5s4dMU0vbmn9JBT4YO2v6_gO9j5xrSpH19fnkVDcdn-Za8roFD_xA72G4IHdarXhMy-2QsniZrrivfpUhsFvr16XFlulp2DB_X4DxesE2A5h6imL7aYU/s1600/112_1054.JPG"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUrypwFJfjRQmhJgKaLE0Hend5s4dMU0vbmn9JBT4YO2v6_gO9j5xrSpH19fnkVDcdn-Za8roFD_xA72G4IHdarXhMy-2QsniZrrivfpUhsFvr16XFlulp2DB_X4DxesE2A5h6imL7aYU/s320/112_1054.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5518747918962592850" /></a><br /><br />The best part- it only cost $3.50! My find this week!Okay, My husband swears he doesn't have my camera- but suddenly it is no where to be found. That has husband written all over it! So, I am sharing pics from my Blackberry (which explains the fuzzies!) <br /><br />Anyway, my thrifty finds have been a bit dry lately... I have gone to the G-will three times in the past week and have walked out with nada- zip- zilch. I decided that enough was enough and got up early yesterday to go yard sailing- well thunderstorms killed that hope. So what is a girl to do?<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.mattmacdonald.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/salvation_army1981.gif"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 198px; height: 225px;" src="http://www.mattmacdonald.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/salvation_army1981.gif" border="0" alt="" /></a><br /><br />I decided to try my local Salvation Army. A few years ago, it was a scary, small, overpriced place. As of late, they have really improved their store and seem to have a lot more inventory. <br /><br />I ended up finding the following:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYB0dXG4m3C0WmpNOKvXCxZ4AuOtk4ALVuY8dNvTD09pFXftCo0RxLFDOIARAN0cnRi1O_BPl6zv_BGFNX1PuyUHQjWSWjEIolDyrJI9ANz76e1ftrh4qdUTntOaZHi46o3fTmffzqFRo/s1600/GetAttachment.aspx.jpeg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYB0dXG4m3C0WmpNOKvXCxZ4AuOtk4ALVuY8dNvTD09pFXftCo0RxLFDOIARAN0cnRi1O_BPl6zv_BGFNX1PuyUHQjWSWjEIolDyrJI9ANz76e1ftrh4qdUTntOaZHi46o3fTmffzqFRo/s320/GetAttachment.aspx.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464232790309478562" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTOWvNv5ECAxfdiaagsbgKXAT9YRZyqW5Q555SMu7HRtDAw4dAlaBHUzzDbiGonCOTXXQV450awzSyfDEnVlBz3DsCPIeoVwXdvcbHhyphenhyphen2qLsIjtPK5sdoF_raw1Em9bk3SKDOnA_iVbGo/s1600/GetAttachment-1.aspx.jpeg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTOWvNv5ECAxfdiaagsbgKXAT9YRZyqW5Q555SMu7HRtDAw4dAlaBHUzzDbiGonCOTXXQV450awzSyfDEnVlBz3DsCPIeoVwXdvcbHhyphenhyphen2qLsIjtPK5sdoF_raw1Em9bk3SKDOnA_iVbGo/s320/GetAttachment-1.aspx.jpeg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464232779132908018" /></a><br /><br /><br />I didn't think it was a bad price for a real wood clock- $3.99 wasn't bad to me. So I will try and keep it to the minimum :)<br /><br />My hubby and I officially first met over 20 years ago. I was 8, and my hubby was almost 10. Our grandparents worked together, and the owner of the company had a huge 4th of July party each year. We were each brought to the party, and all I remember about him is that he is gross (remember, boys were icky then) because all he did was play the Nintendo in the basement, and he and a group of boys started throwing some rotten goose eggs they had found in the river at the girls. The icing on the icky boy cake was that he started throwing fire crackers at us on the tennis court. Needless to say, I didn't like him one bit. I never really "met" him- so that was the end of that. <br /><br />Then, about 14 years ago, my friend at the time invited me over to spend the night at her house. My mom didn't really let me do that because she was a bit overprotective, but I convinced her to let me. When I got there, her brother had some of his friends over- and there was the cutest boy I had liked from afar since sixth grade. This young man was someone that I didn't know at all, but I just thought that he was really cute. We went to middle school together (but he was two years ahead of me). Now, here he is sitting at my friends house. Turns out, he is the cut up of the group that loves to make everyone laugh. They also all go to church together. I had never really been to church, but I went with my friends and ended up loving it. Several years go by and we were all really good friends who spend time together at church and at my best friend's house. In 1997, we both realized that we really liked each other, and my hubby wrote me a "will you be my girlfriend yes or no" letters. We went to his prom, then he joined the ARMY (at 17) when he graduated. I was a junior in high school. <br /><br />That Christmas, he proposed to me. We were married two weeks after I graduated from high school. Everyone said it was a mistake, but almost 11 years later, we are still in love. <br /><br />So, that is our story in a nutshell. I have been teaching for 6 years now and have gotten quite a few gifts... Honestly, I have loved everything that my students have gotten me. There are some things that I have <span style="font-style:italic;">really</span> liked though, and others that I feel bad about (because they gather dust).<br /><br />Things that I have tons of:<br /><br />-teacher anything (mugs, shirts, picture frames, doo-dads, knick-nacks, you name it, I have it)- There are only so many things I can use/dust! <br /><br />-mugs period- I have a whole cabinet full and don't drink coffee. <br /><br />-lotions, sprays, etc- I have allergies and sensitive skin. <br /><br />I would honestly love or have loved any of the following: <br /><br />-Personalized anything- my favorite was a clipboard, but notepads, pens/pencils. I use these things all the time. <br />-Volunteer time- I ALWAYS have things I need done or students that would love to be worked with. I LOVE it when parents volunteer their time. <br /><br />-Gift cards/certificates- nuff said. Not expected, just appreciated. Even for $5-$10 <br /><br />-Anything the child made (letters, pictures, etc)<br /><br />-Plants or things for the classroom. Parents have sent in books for my classroom library, even if they are just ones that your child has outgrown. I have a friend who had a parent that got the entire class to chip in for a big gift for her (new comfy office chair for her to work with the kids in). I think that is a good idea too. Even letters from parents are appreciated! <br /><br />Now, I love homemade goodies, but I know that some people are a bit more put off by eating things that came from other people's homes. I loved it last year when a parent I had gotten to know made dinner for parent conference night and brought it in for me to take home for us to have for dinner. How thoughtful was that??? I loved it! <br /><br />So, I hope that this helps someone out... Let me know if it did (or maybe didn't). Thanks!!!K@The Thrifty Teacherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15755007904706516339noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2690795588277498500.post-45073036254324349122010-03-28T21:10:00.005-05:002010-03-28T22:03:45.051-05:00Where oh where did spring break go???Well, <br />I started the week with the best intentions- posting every day, crafting, cleaning, organizing- but I didn't quite meet my goal. Did I finish my $5 dollar store craft- nope<br />Did I reorganize the downstairs closet- nope<br /><br />But, I did get to do a lot... Here are a few things that I did as the week ended...<br /><br />So, the hubster and I had the opportunity to go to a hockey game for free last week. I was nominated teacher of the year for my school and they sent my principal free tickets. We decided to make a day of it and visit the "big city". You know that means tons of Goodwill visits. I found a few things that I am still working on, but here is one of my favs:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-0efvZBqKi_yL0bXqDdApTWLamaJqycCVQidMWKOoQYFUFbeqJWdNACH9_db_Fundt9u442Omia5vcm_cafJdmZNNny92MbLUXeGbd3kMGNIjaUpTWcAkA7EpmD0sgtxsMwSpFiI12NU/s1600/letterN.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-0efvZBqKi_yL0bXqDdApTWLamaJqycCVQidMWKOoQYFUFbeqJWdNACH9_db_Fundt9u442Omia5vcm_cafJdmZNNny92MbLUXeGbd3kMGNIjaUpTWcAkA7EpmD0sgtxsMwSpFiI12NU/s320/letterN.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453884781379033538" /></a><br /><br />Only .99! Still has the 2.99 Hob-Lob sticker on it. Figure it will get covered in some scrapbook paper when the weather gets nice this week. <br /><br />Also, am I the only person who panics in the morning as they are getting ready for work? Every morning I have visions of somehow spending 2 hours in the shower or something. Yes, me=crazy. So, I have had my eye out for a small clock. Here is what I found:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf47I3djxRJFU1XEocGT6q-z0UmKZuzmg2fIVb9uEwSIxbdeCG2YoQQxnLR1u0y5MTy4MyGXDQW4DG5q3hFSAhOCoJi4zj8aTe8o632yP33ABylXGZrokBztWWqEIwP8I0-nGlQPageaE/s1600/clock.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 293px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf47I3djxRJFU1XEocGT6q-z0UmKZuzmg2fIVb9uEwSIxbdeCG2YoQQxnLR1u0y5MTy4MyGXDQW4DG5q3hFSAhOCoJi4zj8aTe8o632yP33ABylXGZrokBztWWqEIwP8I0-nGlQPageaE/s320/clock.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453884778876104930" /></a><br />This was only 2.99, 1/2 off!!! You can't beat $1.50 (even if it had a years worth of ickyness on it). A little scrubbing never hurt!<br /><br />While I was in the bathroom, I had to take a picture of this birdcage. To be honest, I don't like birds- but when I found it at the 1/2 off sale at the Goodwill a few months ago (see previous post), I brought it home- gave it a coat of paint, and there she is with a bit of moss for a "nest". <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV3LdYKP92gesne_4FXG-NY60uqpmS2C4o3tGQgyo2Khw3rbMGsgck_5IpqjpZDKiN-IOmSPtAZXq61M4sLsBV0BWPzQ_Ru6N2LOswADm6AE_Hxgw5BQVtPDIwv31KHno2s9JFTBGa69k/s1600/BirdcageAfter.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV3LdYKP92gesne_4FXG-NY60uqpmS2C4o3tGQgyo2Khw3rbMGsgck_5IpqjpZDKiN-IOmSPtAZXq61M4sLsBV0BWPzQ_Ru6N2LOswADm6AE_Hxgw5BQVtPDIwv31KHno2s9JFTBGa69k/s320/BirdcageAfter.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453884765828874274" /></a><br /><br /><br />Last, but not least- these have been driving me crazy <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2E8_8HVvPviaEf1zb23sTAwFliBFmFnBu9H9irw6n8YL98LVy9KTQ6QZtMMmERerkjD2pYGCEqFqTpepfYJOWJIgLZurVxI80N3jbJw9_B22sI2F1vGtLMjI8zmqjt2LE4mWWRmMSgnU/s1600/showercurtainbefore.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 245px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2E8_8HVvPviaEf1zb23sTAwFliBFmFnBu9H9irw6n8YL98LVy9KTQ6QZtMMmERerkjD2pYGCEqFqTpepfYJOWJIgLZurVxI80N3jbJw9_B22sI2F1vGtLMjI8zmqjt2LE4mWWRmMSgnU/s320/showercurtainbefore.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453884800899257026" /></a><br /><br />what you don't see what is driving me crazy- well it is actually the hooks. <br /><br /><br />Yes, the hooks- the metal is wearing off/rusting, which has been driving me crazy. So when I was at Target a couple of weeks ago, I spotted these lovely bronze hooks for $2.48. Sold! Since I have been super busy, I just got around to changing them out. What was I thinking? I should have done this weeks ago. <br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL343uImVIPHFusJEZqYD-Grd6Bfc1JCWJw7Ai9qs5ccPdaXAGXb0u7sRP7AwujK0EiwjMUayV7Zb2i7eb_TtDkmY9pYM2NAEfs6y3xV9F7SqMOKX25fiZyMJpF76eJZxXa5smRtmEe34/s1600/ShowercurtainAfter.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL343uImVIPHFusJEZqYD-Grd6Bfc1JCWJw7Ai9qs5ccPdaXAGXb0u7sRP7AwujK0EiwjMUayV7Zb2i7eb_TtDkmY9pYM2NAEfs6y3xV9F7SqMOKX25fiZyMJpF76eJZxXa5smRtmEe34/s320/ShowercurtainAfter.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5453884789864682802" /></a><br /><br />So, that is it for today. Hubby had rented Brothers and New Moon as a surprise from Redbox, so part of my day was spent watching movies. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>I did fix something that has been driving me CRAZY- See this space:</div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpipV_LCcoGz8ymGx5ueOJqm0WHqrZdDSeu_RIk4AwVOnSO3AbVNWItDZgQIDHNycwVG8IGMbLC2psnGptO-_U7eMU23_0JerwtqsZJvqMOY1-HrsEbX2GI3WeEVRHPySbIb-GbXCE398/s1600/112_0677.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpipV_LCcoGz8ymGx5ueOJqm0WHqrZdDSeu_RIk4AwVOnSO3AbVNWItDZgQIDHNycwVG8IGMbLC2psnGptO-_U7eMU23_0JerwtqsZJvqMOY1-HrsEbX2GI3WeEVRHPySbIb-GbXCE398/s320/112_0677.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452275540940551090" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div>We have lived in this rental for almost 8 years now. Yes, 8. This space has always been here, and has always driven me crazy, but I never thought to do anything about it. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>Well, yesterday it officially was driving me crazy. I had decided to find something (artwork, something, anything) to cover it. Am I the only person who feels that way sometimes?</div><div>
<br /></div><div>As I was looking in my trunk for something, I found this:</div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4geqbnHin_wY7CGDLurx9Mc6zwucFY20eai0E-JcB38xbc386ftUA0e9zX-nN9exxdpGLDDb5wXchDu8fFY0tXq_v0DjePAZuPyIaIBWvML_Kncb9N_d0UooEXk1mbk4Pces1xcV6QSo/s1600/112_0673.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4geqbnHin_wY7CGDLurx9Mc6zwucFY20eai0E-JcB38xbc386ftUA0e9zX-nN9exxdpGLDDb5wXchDu8fFY0tXq_v0DjePAZuPyIaIBWvML_Kncb9N_d0UooEXk1mbk4Pces1xcV6QSo/s320/112_0673.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452275522687125378" style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></a></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhATr1SHWZJguyRZlJ7cGGPRfz7ZsH0pialHfl_iLZ0o5vxpftFev_Z9GJXuylQqSGWgy0EA4MzV2u9oBJspBxPwlxmPdfwCCROx2Xjr-Pf8RAYHosuPmCgCrmC1BYWHw6rmHD0Np70LXM/s1600/112_0674.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhATr1SHWZJguyRZlJ7cGGPRfz7ZsH0pialHfl_iLZ0o5vxpftFev_Z9GJXuylQqSGWgy0EA4MzV2u9oBJspBxPwlxmPdfwCCROx2Xjr-Pf8RAYHosuPmCgCrmC1BYWHw6rmHD0Np70LXM/s320/112_0674.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452275528445045986" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div>I bought it about 2 months ago, figuring I could paint and cover the apples. When I brought it in the house, I decided to hold it up to see if it would cover the box. IT DID! So instead of buying or making anything, I was able to use the 2.99 (half off it was 1.50) Goodwill find. Like with everything I make, I am not 100% happy yet (still thinking about what to put in the cutout) but for now the piece of scrapbook paper is fine:</div><div>
<br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcO9d9vtlYEqUm0gnME7hdjGpKkS9OrBcpBDF5sBxzVt8M_YvrxbhWeZUHQjYle1b0FiUTWOumgtDxpLmh8Phyphenhyphenhciydce5eglCOAkCyn3CuX9aaC6B7_U0r8fLaY7pcBqf0iqNoXtLBP8/s1600/112_0679.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcO9d9vtlYEqUm0gnME7hdjGpKkS9OrBcpBDF5sBxzVt8M_YvrxbhWeZUHQjYle1b0FiUTWOumgtDxpLmh8Phyphenhyphenhciydce5eglCOAkCyn3CuX9aaC6B7_U0r8fLaY7pcBqf0iqNoXtLBP8/s320/112_0679.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452275546626762930" style="cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px; " /></a></div><div>
<br /></div><div>Also yesterday, I was looking for something online to put over my new computer desk (pics to come soon). Inspiration hit when I remembered the picture frame I found at the Hob-Lob in the fall. </div><div>
<br /></div><div>My eyes almost fell out when I saw the price ($4.99- originally $49.99): </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwVBcPwJAQh6mkF6Dctd229MqcI88qDcKxoevkFin8_ZdTqYJLcr-VEWpOvc5FYxpHXPOy26vIbAASKPkDTKrX-IkuqPwiEG1X8lajTEwWbxCTXxMwxyGGAsBEl48AWLKI1C9D6WbX6bQ/s1600/112_0667.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwVBcPwJAQh6mkF6Dctd229MqcI88qDcKxoevkFin8_ZdTqYJLcr-VEWpOvc5FYxpHXPOy26vIbAASKPkDTKrX-IkuqPwiEG1X8lajTEwWbxCTXxMwxyGGAsBEl48AWLKI1C9D6WbX6bQ/s320/112_0667.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5452278009224211186" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div>In fact, the cashier was a bit snotty about it (called the manager over and told him she thought I had changed the tags). Today it has been rainy and gloomy- so I didn't get a chance to paint anything until this afternoon when the sun came out for a bit. </div><div><br /></div><div>Here are my 2 before items. They were both lovely, just a bit dated for my taste:</div><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-p1Rj3VILlRs3yTzlvhjrQkWToACZcJuX1mggbde5MmVY104QaEvjxYKEvDbvDEfEIzni0XNqICWHnVLG1PUXmx7k71HcBBtEvvLgm9a726u9lsLDurEm2_bPCH5e4orcKxlkzubJ-y0/s1600-h/112_0626.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-p1Rj3VILlRs3yTzlvhjrQkWToACZcJuX1mggbde5MmVY104QaEvjxYKEvDbvDEfEIzni0XNqICWHnVLG1PUXmx7k71HcBBtEvvLgm9a726u9lsLDurEm2_bPCH5e4orcKxlkzubJ-y0/s320/112_0626.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451607776710929058" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I gave the smaller picture a coat of brown spray paint, covered the picture with some tan fabric I had laying around, and painted the fleur with some copper paint. Not too shabby considering I didn't pay anything to make it :) .</div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe0sqNdy9b0TqsFiOBIPWhcC0EBYTBPvZ5m3JsakAhJRhU_J3GYWhzs2NJFnd61VVLzkoTZjGrwh7Mg5QOx1XFkiX7wi7nSqZeAzI8EFmtI-4QQSQZPit4k_otGxWWAEoTOKZMocAWmuA/s1600-h/112_0651.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe0sqNdy9b0TqsFiOBIPWhcC0EBYTBPvZ5m3JsakAhJRhU_J3GYWhzs2NJFnd61VVLzkoTZjGrwh7Mg5QOx1XFkiX7wi7nSqZeAzI8EFmtI-4QQSQZPit4k_otGxWWAEoTOKZMocAWmuA/s320/112_0651.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451607769442441106" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I am not finished with this one yet. I painted the frame brown (big surprise, huh) and then covered the picture with some brown/green fabric. Not sure what to put in the glass yet though. </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikpN6MVa_mRaSNQX_51sI-dv6-4caRVTNpJx4GAHgXh0QjtKzEfspY-EtjHlFEldhesu7nKimivHgHpCu4Qj7_Ez-gX3HoUWMQBWU0HbvObHzYdpYuZWj0wy-8Vk0auVlJuBCpMe9NmSQ/s1600-h/112_0653.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikpN6MVa_mRaSNQX_51sI-dv6-4caRVTNpJx4GAHgXh0QjtKzEfspY-EtjHlFEldhesu7nKimivHgHpCu4Qj7_Ez-gX3HoUWMQBWU0HbvObHzYdpYuZWj0wy-8Vk0auVlJuBCpMe9NmSQ/s320/112_0653.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451607755750122434" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div>They both compliment my wreath I made- using <a href="http://tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com/2010/01/2010-burlap-wreath-and-giveaway.html">Tatertots and Jello</a> as an inspiration:</div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh04L3t_kohEk8NpZaZ9_hUjtzOPMRE1Yp87Ok7c5n9OhpfAAJqKK9qT8I5ZCMH67-7k52MSq4OTdsWEFPWLU0R2kT8H8iq-TBNCf8-17Kw6Aj27AGdmZXtSONmFhLZqtcu53Rg4iu2efg/s1600-h/112_0643.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh04L3t_kohEk8NpZaZ9_hUjtzOPMRE1Yp87Ok7c5n9OhpfAAJqKK9qT8I5ZCMH67-7k52MSq4OTdsWEFPWLU0R2kT8H8iq-TBNCf8-17Kw6Aj27AGdmZXtSONmFhLZqtcu53Rg4iu2efg/s320/112_0643.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451607749835220546" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a> it is a lot cuter in person- will try taking a pic of it when the sun is out tomorrow. </div><div><br /></div><div>So, what should I put inside of that frame??? Would love some ideas. Thought about overlaying with a brown paper and perhaps putting the word Laundry (or maybe something else). I am going to hang it in my laundry area. </div><div><br /></div><div>PS: The people who are able to neatly wrap twine/jute/etc around items must be more talented than I am. The clock almost seems to go backwards. The weather was warm, and the meetings were plentiful, but I did manage to find the following this week:<div><br /></div><div>1. Check out the assortment of glassware I found. The big blue glass vase will be covered in jute or something- but it was FREE! (yes, free) A woman on our local Craigslist copycat had a yard sale yesterday and was giving away most of her leftovers. </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyui4I2jGqfjPD76rMLmehdqwkyoCUG3F1wWTJSY1kKI4N6Eng2SyQ1qpeu59s2eFe_asG2viAAMLMj1snlOua435Y7lBLkZ-FD3ouyD71f0hZiwPXVvD3oDOzIgBTXxXl4XADpMHIyAA/s1600-h/112_0624.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyui4I2jGqfjPD76rMLmehdqwkyoCUG3F1wWTJSY1kKI4N6Eng2SyQ1qpeu59s2eFe_asG2viAAMLMj1snlOua435Y7lBLkZ-FD3ouyD71f0hZiwPXVvD3oDOzIgBTXxXl4XADpMHIyAA/s320/112_0624.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451107232491193570" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>The other glass items were .59 or .99 at our local Goodwill and Salvation Army. They are getting makeovers as well this week. We just got a new computer and desk and my husband's tacky desk items are going (haha). </div><div><br /></div><div>2. Here are 2 other items that the woman mentioned above gave away. They are SO not my style- but I have plans for them :)</div><div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBmZc4DMXDYpM1wV0M96C0pagMEyyHx8NUYcFExZkvoE7Exua_qh09HqYOSxvdkvbUT-mHMVw-wKmxx8IzrgNxDOQ5BG5YJw1Vuf_qPn7BC_JnTOMtESh1RdM33zexfQb6H0I_-Xc9WqY/s1600-h/112_0625.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBmZc4DMXDYpM1wV0M96C0pagMEyyHx8NUYcFExZkvoE7Exua_qh09HqYOSxvdkvbUT-mHMVw-wKmxx8IzrgNxDOQ5BG5YJw1Vuf_qPn7BC_JnTOMtESh1RdM33zexfQb6H0I_-Xc9WqY/s320/112_0625.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451107240069161122" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a></div><div>3. I like to take my time eating breakfast and getting ready. </div><div><br /></div><div>I usually leave for work anywhere between 6:30 and 7:00. </div><div><br /></div><div>I then work in my classroom until the bell rings at 8:20. Normally I am making copies, organizing my centers for the day, straightening up, etc. Sometimes my students come in early and help me out. </div><div><br /></div><div>Then from 8:20-8:45, we all get ready for our day. From 8:45-9:00, we have silent reading time, which is one of my favorite parts of the day (getting to see all my students enjoy reading. From 9:00-9:30, I teach whole group reading, and from 9:30 until 10:30, we have centers. From 10:30-11:00, we have language. Then, we have science or social studies from 11:00-11:45.</div><div><br /></div><div>Now is my students' favorite time of day... lunch, gym, and specials. I am blessed to teach at a small school that is able to have both each day. This is my time to grade papers and do any other work that needs to be done. At 1:30, the kids come back and we have math for an hour. Then, from 2:30-3:00, 1/2 of my students go out for special tutoring. The rest of my students complete activities with me. </div><div><br /></div><div>We normally get ready to go home at 3:00, but we have an extended day due to our snow days, so now from 3:00-3:30, we are completing review for our state testing. At 3:30, we start filling out agendas to go home. My kids leave by 3:50. Then, I organize the room and usually have some type of meeting to go to (most days).</div><div><br /></div><div> I normally get home around 5:00-6:30. Most of the time, my husband has dinner ready. I usually will eat, then will work on my homework (I am finishing my master's degree). I also like to try to pick up around the house and get lunch/clothes ready for the next day. I have been reading blogs, just haven't had much to post about. My goal from now on is to post something at least once a week. We will see :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, have you ever participated in Once a Month Cooking? I have- it is a lifesaver for those crazy days when the last thing you want to do is cook. I love knowing I have something already in the freezer at home. Usually, I cook when I have breaks in school- because you have to have at least a day set aside for cooking (I like to set two days aside- one for shopping/planning and the next for cooking/freezing). </div><div><br /></div><div>Well, here is one of the best things for that day- I have doubled it and tripled it with good results. You may need more broth, depending on how hot the pan gets. Also, if you are freezing it for later, make sure the chicken has a bit of broth in it to help it stay juicy. Lay it flat in the baggy to freeze as well so that it doesn't take up as much space and so all the broth is distributed. </div><div><br /></div><div>My "Famous" OAMC Shredded Chicken</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, helvetica, clean, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px; "><div class="ingredients" style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; "><ul style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><li style="list-style-type: none; line-height: 1.5; ">5 <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/getentry.zsp?id=221" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: none; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; ">chicken breasts</a>, I use the boneless pre-frozen halves from Walmart (I have used boneless thighs with good results as well)</li><li style="list-style-type: none; line-height: 1.5; ">1 cup <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/getentry.zsp?id=154" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: none; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; ">chicken broth</a></li></ul></div><div class="steps"><ol><li style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; "><span class="recipetext" style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; ">Place chicken breasts in pan with broth (I have used frozen, as well as fresh- frozen adds to your cooking time).</span></li><li style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; "><span class="recipetext" style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; ">Bring to a boil.</span></li><li style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; "><span class="recipetext" style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; ">Turn heat to medium, and let simmer covered for 15-20 minutes (around 10 minutes if yours are defrosted), turning occasionally.</span></li><li style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; "><span class="recipetext" style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; ">Then turn to medium low and let cook covered for another 60 min (or until shreds with a fork). I make mine just like hers, except that I omit the celery. You can also saute the onions if you wish, but I like the flavor of the onions cooking in the dressing mixture. Another secret is to finely crumble the cornbread. A dear friend and I decided to combine our usual feasts to make cooking a bit easier on the both of us. Then, we decided to throw in some new dishes to jazz things up a bit. This will definitely be on the table again this year! For weeks, the two of us have been saying things like, "MMMMMM cranberrrrrry salad" and, "Know what I am looking forward to...". It is just that good! <div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px; "><div class="ingredients" style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; Now, don't get me wrong, I haven't given up on my local Goodwill(s), I just haven't found much there lately. Plus, it is about 2 minutes from where I work and I can zip in and out :) </div><div><br /></div><div>On a visit during my fall break, I found the following glass bowls/jars. The smallest was .59, the tall one was .99, and the heavy round one was 1.99. Not sure what I am going to do with them yet, but I am sure I will find a place for them. </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6HIYxP6XQQO9MIzFc3IlY2iQ9ISsFR4FlncqNOTldtIEu2YL_-FMeXpTZDzaExrn6_rUt1Tlo7sMyOJMYydu43xSueguGW6atI00yUJlDNA3HBAZNjBxnCHOZrb5NWfHmIBG3Rt1Ns9s/s1600-h/112_0278.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6HIYxP6XQQO9MIzFc3IlY2iQ9ISsFR4FlncqNOTldtIEu2YL_-FMeXpTZDzaExrn6_rUt1Tlo7sMyOJMYydu43xSueguGW6atI00yUJlDNA3HBAZNjBxnCHOZrb5NWfHmIBG3Rt1Ns9s/s320/112_0278.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399216590875292370" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Then, I went again recently. I had heard that all of their clothes were .50 a piece that day. I found my hubby a nice brooks brothers dress shirt, along with the snowman dish for .59, and the berry garland for .59 :) </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiac1VdZsYtYMTKjp6EfLJPgtotnnUFOuY0di0My1OP01qeEpoXdhrgB9I5_nw-vB_rKTxYSekPMOXCFqbglS5tG3WYxS6mSSzjtGPD3lcZ0R7hnluCC3OxcWRl0cqU1AFFrZolFPG44zc/s1600-h/112_0297.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiac1VdZsYtYMTKjp6EfLJPgtotnnUFOuY0di0My1OP01qeEpoXdhrgB9I5_nw-vB_rKTxYSekPMOXCFqbglS5tG3WYxS6mSSzjtGPD3lcZ0R7hnluCC3OxcWRl0cqU1AFFrZolFPG44zc/s320/112_0297.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399219701450373266" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig9NXXZbS5Fz6-yqkETAN-UIyZjLnbIhe8XIOdF0euN9wh2_Q_ykJNebzC-eaIb7DqxA-Tdne2nrKBwAXK_bDpBF-_OypXQIfdh9Rhv5xdnkwBuTWCOO_Z2hWKJ1DyWgOxYHwVA2SO_wU/s1600-h/112_0299.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEig9NXXZbS5Fz6-yqkETAN-UIyZjLnbIhe8XIOdF0euN9wh2_Q_ykJNebzC-eaIb7DqxA-Tdne2nrKBwAXK_bDpBF-_OypXQIfdh9Rhv5xdnkwBuTWCOO_Z2hWKJ1DyWgOxYHwVA2SO_wU/s320/112_0299.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399219705927505634" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu7i9E7OoqvyI6v6-Ha5_b8f5ParIx-_sXv2No2_L5YPsqFYSvrAmQoCR1kShae_YACouNOOncBcjC0fVasuC7KzDMCG-i02Ob6sw5uA52-yRTX78TT-mCSmCx7KBV7YtdJYGw_zLBq-s/s1600-h/112_0292.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu7i9E7OoqvyI6v6-Ha5_b8f5ParIx-_sXv2No2_L5YPsqFYSvrAmQoCR1kShae_YACouNOOncBcjC0fVasuC7KzDMCG-i02Ob6sw5uA52-yRTX78TT-mCSmCx7KBV7YtdJYGw_zLBq-s/s320/112_0292.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399219699086245154" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>To prove I haven't given up on Goodwill entirely, here is a few recent finds...</div><div><br /></div><div>I haven't decided what to do with this yet. I think that it re-heats well (most of the time) and is just delicious. My husband (who I love to call "picky pants". He says he isn't picky- but he is) will eat it by the truckload. </div><div><br /></div><div>So, this can easily be made with things that you probably already have. I haven't priced it, but I think that it can be made for under $3.00 total. </div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=" line-height: 15px; font-family:arial;font-size:13px;"><h1 style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); ">Cornbread With Corn Casserole </h1><div class="ingredients" style="font-family: georgia, times, serif; font-size: 11pt; "><ul style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; "><li style="list-style-type: none; line-height: 1.5; ">2 <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/getentry.zsp?id=142" style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: none; ">eggs</a>, beaten</li><li style="list-style-type: none; line-height: 1.5; ">1 (14 ounce) can <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/getentry.zsp?id=229" style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: none; ">whole kernel corn</a>, do not drain</li><li style="list-style-type: none; line-height: 1.5; ">1 (14 ounce) can <a style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: none; ">cream-style corn</a></li><li style="list-style-type: none; line-height: 1.5; ">1/4 cup <a href="http://www.recipezaar.com/library/getentry.zsp?id=421" style="border-style: initial; border-color: initial; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: none; ">margarine</a>, melted</li><li style="list-style-type: none; line-height: 1.5; ">1 (8 1/2 ounce) box <a style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; text-decoration: none; ">Jiffy cornbread mix</a></li></ul></div><div class="steps"><ol><li style=" ;font-family:georgia, times, serif;font-size:11pt;"><span class="recipetext" style=" ;font-family:georgia, times, serif;font-size:11pt;">Mix first 3 ingredients together (I will sometimes throw in a can of drained and chopped green chilies, finely diced onion, or even 1/2 a cup of shredded cheese. Sounded like another trip to the big city :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Honestly, I wasn't planning on spending a lot. I have a few things in mind that I am still looking for, but not much.</div><div><br /></div><div>Well, as we were driving around (after dropping our friends off), what did I spot from the highway...</div><div><br /></div><div>Yardsale! With temps in the high 50's- and it being gloomy & overcast- these people were brave!!! I ended up getting a few things (2 candle holders, a tall column candle holder, a rusty cross yard/wall display, and some other misc things) for all the cash I had ($4.00). </div><div><br /></div><div>Have a few projects in mind for everything, but here is the first one. I had been looking for something for the brown & creme striped table I posted about recently. </div><div><br /></div><div>Well, I forgot to take a real before picture, so picture this pic- but with the holder being black instead of brown. Threw in some orange tealights that I had laying around. I liked it, but thought it needed a little something.</div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBBtM4nLNH2BG1iADVHGmd17MQBrsTgfHowx5kzJ-8zzJT_BsBm8o1GOu_fJhFsJYz1GipnO6CI9rjFfxpc-jRwWN474p6lqvHFQsNuyk2sEowvrbbM4UhVehHs3Pt99E_f6ZcSslC0_4/s1600-h/112_0238.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBBtM4nLNH2BG1iADVHGmd17MQBrsTgfHowx5kzJ-8zzJT_BsBm8o1GOu_fJhFsJYz1GipnO6CI9rjFfxpc-jRwWN474p6lqvHFQsNuyk2sEowvrbbM4UhVehHs3Pt99E_f6ZcSslC0_4/s320/112_0238.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5392016841669696706" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>Enter the ribbon I have been saving for a special occasion. When he got home (I wasn't planning on going to ours because I knew they didn't have a lot out), he told me that they had the cube organizers for cheap (the ones with the baskets). Score! Get there, someone was pushing them out the door. Fail! Oh well, I did get the picture frame for .49. </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoJT-zJB_Z9IKsekL6Va4KM8v2HIU0mKMamYMGiv1pw-D5YCo6pt9pGs5rDxo1Yt4aggESLw5pkcQB9p6bEeFTm4CoPJKdZKy3MfGQyR-kU_fZ-JnijWK-ERaK0JxYe0kqFjGd5KSVXDQ/s1600-h/112_0224.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoJT-zJB_Z9IKsekL6Va4KM8v2HIU0mKMamYMGiv1pw-D5YCo6pt9pGs5rDxo1Yt4aggESLw5pkcQB9p6bEeFTm4CoPJKdZKy3MfGQyR-kU_fZ-JnijWK-ERaK0JxYe0kqFjGd5KSVXDQ/s320/112_0224.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388936763118892210" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>We get to the big city- and go to our next Goodwill- boo! The line was out the door almost and it was so disorganized. There was a small church across the street having a sale and I got the frame below to paint and a cute little owl (who is MIA- think he is still in the car). I felt bad for them because they had a bunch of people come in and tear up all of their nice work and piles. .50 for the frame and the owl. </div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW8XdamznBAYTeR9ARueApJA699lSz2LO3QCeBZTSJ4HNo572sCI8Hj9RA3S6y6N7xfbdPny_TmUH7KQ4Ibxx3gfBM4_4OdNL6XrkM8ylgknmPMUXPF1qvKkybhmdjpjAdgP4oi2EMj2s/s1600-h/112_0222.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhW8XdamznBAYTeR9ARueApJA699lSz2LO3QCeBZTSJ4HNo572sCI8Hj9RA3S6y6N7xfbdPny_TmUH7KQ4Ibxx3gfBM4_4OdNL6XrkM8ylgknmPMUXPF1qvKkybhmdjpjAdgP4oi2EMj2s/s320/112_0222.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388936754795547634" style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " /></a><br /></div><div><br /></div><div>We went to a used book store and I found a great old book in the free bin- going to try to turn it into a Jack-o-Lantern face.
